Waganupa
Ishi (ca, 1860 - March 25, 1916) was a member of the YAHI People. He is believed to have been the last Native American to live in the “Wild,” completely outside of European American culture. In 1911, at about 49 years old, Ishi wandered onto a ranch near Oroville, California, leaving his ancestral homeland near the foothills of the volcano (Mt. Lassen), known to the Yahi as wa ganu p’a (Center of the World).
Waganupa Brewing®, established in 2015, is a craft brewery that crafts small batches of premium artisanal beer, fresh days fresh and made entirely in Chester, CA located at the base of Mt. Lassen.

Husband-and-wife duo, the dedicated owners of Waganupa Brewery, have committed themselves to providing steady and reliable hours, creating a welcoming space where locals and visitors alike can gather, unwind, and savor the flavors of expertly crafted beer. As Waganupa expands its operations, the team is excited to welcome two new members to the brewery family. Abby, a joyful and spirited addition, brings enthusiasm and warmth to the space, ensuring every visitor feels right at home. Ally, an aspiring real estate agent with bartending experience, joins with her own expertise in hospitality and service, making the transition seamless. The brewery continues to grow, with plans to bring on another team member to help facilitate event planning and activities.

Chester & Lake Almanor, CA – Waganupa Brewery is excited to announce its new owner, Scotty Outland. As the brewery embarks on this new chapter, Scotty brings a fresh vision while honoring the beloved traditions that have made Waganupa a local favorite.
Current Hours and Future Plans -
Waganupa Brewery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 4 PM -9 PM and Sundays from 12 PM-5 PM.
Signature Beers and New Additions -
Scotty is committed to continuing the tradition of offering many of Waganupa's signature beers. In addition, he is excited to introduce a couple of new brews to the lineup. This blend of tradition and innovation promises to delight both long-time patrons and new visitors alike.

Collaborations and Bottling -
In a move to strengthen community ties, Waganupa Brewery will be collaborating with local restaurants to have their beers on tap. Additionally, the brewery will begin bottling their beers, making it easier for customers to enjoy their favorite brews at home.
